Lana Del Rey - Born To Die / Off To The Races

Enigmatic New York singer Lizzie Grant AKA Lana Del Rey first burst onto the UK music scene with the beautiful and hypnotic buzz single "Video Games", which hit No. 9 on the UK chart in October. The self-proclaimed "Gangsta Nancy Sinatra" is due to release her debut album, "Born To Die", at the end of January. The next single to be taken from the album is the title track, another dramatic and epic strings driven affair, complimented beautifully by Del Rey's moody and luscious vocals. Incidentally, this week the itunes single of the week is another track taken from her album called "Off To The Races". A sort of indie version of Katy Perry's "E.T." with a similar drum-beat, the track shows off another side to Lana's vocals with a catchy chorus whilst again lacing them with a background of strings. You can download the track for free off iTunes NOW!! I predict BIG things for this girl in 2012. Mark my words, you will be hearing a lot more of Lana Del Rey over the coming year!

Military Wives Choir - Wherever You Are

Although not the sort of music I would normally promote on my blog, this track certainly merits a mention and is for a worthy cause. At the moment the bookies' favourite to clinch the Christmas No. 1 spot ahead of the X Factor Winner's Single and a facebook campaign to get Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" back to the top of the charts, chorist Gareth Malone's heartwarming attempt to form a choir from a group of wives of military servicemen will release their single "Wherever You Are" with backing from Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans on the 18th December. The original track would be a worthy Christmas No.1, with proceeds of the track going to Help For Heroes, bringing a touching and meaningful feel to the upper echelons of the UK chart this Christmas, dominated normally by re-releases of old tracks and cliched covers. As such, I urge you to support the track and get something that thoroughly deserves a Christmas No. 1 spot to the top!

Swedish House Mafia Vs. Knife Party (Rob Swire & Gareth McGrillen from Pendulum) - Antidote

Swedish house music legends Seb Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello, otherwise known as Swedish House Mafia have teamed up with Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen who have formed a new side project called Knife Party. The resulting track received its first play on Annie Mac’s show last week. This is an absolute beast of tune and is an eclectic mix of Pendulum’s drumstep style with the thumping house beats of the Swedish trio. Here is the awesome “Antidote”. Enjoy!

Avicii - Levels (Official Video)

Swedish DJ and producer Avicii AKA Tim Bergling, first hit the UK charts as his alias Tim Berg in November last year with the track "Seek Bromance", which hit No. 13. Now, at the age of 22, and after establishing himself as one of the world's top 10 DJs, the Swede is about to release his new track "Levels", next Sunday here in the UK. Radio 1 DJ Greg James has already made the track his record of the week this week, and simultaneously added this and Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" (which samples the same Etta James track) to the Radio 1 playlist this week, assuring an interesting chart battle in the weeks to come. For many, "Levels" has been THE track of the Summer and certainly looks to manifest its popularity by rocketing up the download charts next weekend! Enjoy!

Jessie J Feat. David Guetta - LaserLight

Romford-born singer Jessie Cornish AKA Jessie J is about to release the Platinum Edition of her multi-platinum album "Who You Are". The album features 4 brand new tracks including the new single "Domino". One of the other new tracks is a collaboration with French superstar DJ David Guetta. "LaserLight" is the second time the two artists have collaborated, the first being on the "Nothing But The Beat" album track "Repeat". This track is very much a hands in the air club ready anthem, with epic synths and a Swedish House Mafia-style breakdown. In many ways, the track is similar to Guetta's other album track "Titanium" featuring Sia, which has been a huge smash everywhere except in the UK it seems! Enjoy this one!

Kelly Rowland - Down For Whatever [Produced by RedOne]

Former Destiny's Child member and X Factor judge Kelly Rowland is back with the first UK single to be taken from her third studio album "Here I Am". After recently featuring on huge dance tracks such as on David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over" and Alex Gaudino's "What A Feeling", Kelly is ready to release a new single in her own right in the form of the RedOne produced "Down For Whatever". The track is a typical RedOne production with its thumping sledgehammer beats and heavy synths that will no doubt lend it to being a dancefloor filler over the next few months. It seems, like Cheryl Cole, the X Factor will provide a huge boost to  her solo career, and with the more or less definite chance of an X Factor performance to promote the track, I expect big things for this! Enjoy!

"The Power Hour"

Hey guys! Just a quick post to let you all know that my new radio show "The Power Hour!" begins this Sunday at 4pm only on Durham's student radio station Purple Radio at www.purpleradio.co.uk !! The show's aim is to bring you the best in fresh new dance tunes - be they the best dance remixes of current chart hits or the hottest trance and house tracks currently in rotation at a club near you! If you've heard a floor-filling track out on the town that you love but don't know what it is chances are I will be playing it! Tune in! Tom xxx

Coldplay Feat. Rihanna - Princess Of China

The collaboration of perhaps the biggest band and biggest female solo artist in the world right now was bound turn heads from the offset...."Princess Of China" is a track taken from Coldplay's forthcoming fifth album "Mylo Xyloto" and features vocals from none other than Bajan superstar Rihanna. Lead singer Chris Martin describes himself proposing a duet to Rihanna as being "very Hugh Grant-like and spluttering". He recently explained: "We had a song that I'd secretly kind of written to see if Rihanna would want to sing it. And then the rest of the band wanted to keep it, so we came up with the idea of asking her to sing it with us, and, to our great surprise, she said okay." The track is an anthemic and epic slow-chugging blend of synths, guitars and orchestration that Martin himself describes as an album "highlight". Strangely enough the voices of Martin and Rihanna complement each other perfectly....and the track would not sound out of place on a Rihanna album itself! This is a great track and is definitely going to prove itself as a talking point throughout the music world! Enjoy!

High Contrast Feat. Tiesto & Underworld - The First Note Is Silent

Dancefloor heavyweights Tiesto (AKA Tijs Verwest, frequently named as one of the world's best DJs) and Underworld (famous for their track "Born Slippy" which hit No. 2 back in 1996 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlLWFa1b1Bc) have teamed up with Welsh Drum & Bass legend High Contrast to create the euphoric track "The First Note Is Silent". The fascinating collaboration of artists from very different areas of dance music has resulted in a hands in the air affair with a soaring male vocal and infectious synth-driven bassline along a drum and bass beat. The track premiered to rave reviews from Radio 1's Annie Mac and has certainly got dance music fans talking with its blurring of trance, drum and bass and progressive house genres! This is epic! Enjoy!

**NEW ARTIST ALERT: Introducing Joshua O' Connor...**

If you love singer/songwriters such as Ed Sheeran, Damien Rice, Jose Gonzalez and Jamie Cullum and are intrigued by the concept of the genre "folktronica", then 20 year-old Cambridge singer/songwriter Josh O'Connor will be right up your street. Josh is about to release his debut album "Running" on iTunes this Autumn after playing gig after gig to get his music out there to you, the listening public. The album is a glorious mix of folk and pop with an added electronic twist and is perfect for bright and breezy days with it's sweet, happy and light acoustic guitar driven tracks and Josh's lush, endearing, layered vocals. I predict great things in the future for him....he certainly has the talent to break into the mainstream! Good luck Josh!

Have a listen to his album here on soundcloud at: www.soundcloud.com/joshuaoconnor

The Wanted - Lightning

British boy-band The Wanted have enjoyed a huge following and success in the British charts since they hit No. 1 in August last year with their debut single "All Time Low". Since then they've had a top 5 album, two top 3 singles with "Heart Vacancy" and "Gold Forever", and a second No. 1 single with the Summer party anthem "Glad You Came". The third single to be taken from their forthcoming second album is "Lightning", a euphoric dance track that the boys penned themselves with a huge sing-a-long chorus. I really like this track....perhaps more so than anything else they've done! A future No. 1 in my opinion!

Cher Lloyd Feat. Mike Posner - With Ur Love

Precocious singer and rapper Cher Lloyd, one of X Factor's most controversial alumni, scored a No. 1 on the UK chart last month with the opinion-splitting nursery-rhyme sampling "Swagger Jagger". The second single to be taken from her debut album is "With Ur Love" featuring US singer Mike Posner (who hit No. 5 in November last year with "Cooler Than Me"). The track is, in my opinion, a way better offering than "Swagger Jagger" from Cher, and with its catchy chorus and slick production courtesy of Swedish maestro Max Martin (who penned most of the big pop hits of the 90s including "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time"), the track is poised to be a smash and may even score some global chart success for the 17 year-old. Enjoy!

Flo Rida - Good Feeling

Tramar Dillard AKA Flo Rida has had numerous chart successes around the world since his debut single "Low" featuring T-Pain was released in 2007, hitting No. 1 practically everywhere (except the UK, where it was held off the top spot by Estelle's "American Boy"). However, he did manage to reach the top spot here on two occasions with "Right Round" featuring Ke$ha in March 2009 and "Club Can't Handle Me" featuring David Guetta in August last year. The first track to be taken from "Only One Rida (Part 2)" is the Etta James sampling "Good Feeling", a collaboration with producers Dr. Luke, Swedish hot-property Avicii and US dubstep producer Cirkut. The track heavily borrows Avicii's instrumental "Levels" - a trend that seems to be all the rage at the moment, what with Leona Lewis's "Collide" being based on Avicii's instrumental "Penguin". This is a really good track...keep an eye out for the UK version featuring a Mr. Taio Cruz in the form of his next single "Hangover"! Enjoy!

Rihanna Feat. Calvin Harris - We Found Love

Bajan superstar Rihanna has had huge global success over the past 6 years, selling millions of records since her debut single "Pon De Replay" hit No. 2 on the UK charts back in 2005. Since then she has racked up 4 No. 1 singles ("Umbrella" feat. Jay Z, "Take A Bow", "Only Girl (In The World)" and "What's My Name"), not to mention 11 more top 10 singles as either lead artist or guest. Her most recent album "Loud", reached No. 1 on the UK album chart and has already sold in excess on 1.5 million units in the UK alone! Today has seen the premiere of her new single "We Found Love" (despite Cheers (Drink To That) still being in the UK top 40) featuring Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris. To be honest this sounds more like Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna really as the DJ's sound really comes through in this record, a euphoric piece of synth-driven house with thumping dance beats. This is one for the clubs for sure! Enjoy people!

Jessie J - Domino

Essex native Jessie Cornish AKA Jessie J first had success as a songwriter for Miley Cyrus on her track "Party In The USA". Since then she has had success in her own right as a solo artist. Four singles have been released from her multi-platinum debut album "Who I Am" to varying success. Her debut single "Do It Like A Dude" hit No. 2 on the UK chart early this year. Soon after, "Price Tag" featuring B.o.B hit No. 1 around the world and is currently the 2nd highest selling single of the year. More recently, "Nobody's Perfect" and "Who's Laughing Now" both became top 10 and top 20 hits respectively for the singer. The 2nd single to be released in the USA only for the time being is the Dr. Luke (Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Katy Perry) produced "Domino", a very catchy piece of pure pop, reminiscent of the material that Katy Perry has released from her "California Dreams" album. This is pretty good folks - I hope you like! :)

Jennifer Lopez - Papi

Multi-talented actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has had a string of hits since her debut single "If You Had My Love" back in 1999. The Puerto Rican has managed 3 No. 1 singles in the UK including "Love Don't Cost A Thing" in 2001, "Get Right" in 2005 and most recently "On The Floor" with Pitbull in April this year. The track, along with the top 10 Lil' Wayne collaboration "I'm Into You" is taken from her 7th studio album "Love?". The 3rd single to be taken from the LP is another collaboration with in-demand producer RedOne. "Papi", is another slickly produced thumping dance track with tribal beats and an infectious chorus! Enjoy!

Lana del Rey - Video Games

American songstress Lana del Rey releases her debut UK single "Video Games" a double A side with the track "Blue Jeans" on October 16th. The track, a haunting piano driven ballad with a soaring, beautiful vocal and harp and orchestral backing, echoes works by Paloma Faith and Adele and has been receiving rave reviews by Fearne Cotton on Radio 1. I really like this track! It seems that this has caught the ear of other Radio 1 listeners also as the track is already at No. 50 on the iTunes album chart as a pre-order. This will do well in the UK charts mark my words! Enjoy!

DEVolution - Good Love

Dubstep newcomers DEVolution have just released their debut single "Good Love". The track, an uplifting piece of euphoric dubstep with trancey synths and a sexy vocal has been receiving airplay on both Radio 1 and 1Xtra and is set to do big things in the clubs. I really like this! If you are looking for a dancier, more housey affair, check out the Kat Krazy Remix of the track - it really takes it to another level! Enjoy!

Tinchy Stryder - Off The Record (Produced By Calvin Harris & Burns)

UK grime sensation Tinchy Stryder first hit the UK charts back in January 2009 with Taio Cruz on the No. 3 hit "Take Me Back". Since then he has had 8 more top 40 successes including the No. 1 hits "Number 1" with N-Dubz and "Never Leave You" with Amelle from the Sugababes. The first single to be taken from his 3rd studio album is "Off The Record", a thumping house track produced by none other than Calvin Harris, who has become one of the biggest success stories of the past few years in UK dance music and up-and-coming producer Burns. This is definitely a step in the right direction for Tinchy, taking a leaf out of Dizzee Rascal's book in hooking up with one of the hottest UK producers out there at the moment! Enjoy!

Example - Midnight Run (Produced By Feed Me) / The Way (Produced By Rollo & Sister Bliss of Faithless)

Here is a treat for you....the next single and another track from Example's new album "Playing In The Shadows", which is out now! "Midnight Run", the next track to be taken from the dance-influence rapper's 2nd mainstream album on Ministry Of Sound, is an interesting one at that! Produced by dubstep newcomers Feed Me, the track clocks at a BPM halfway between that typically used in house and dubstep genre tracks, allowing the wordsmith to bend the rules a little and create something a little different! The second track I have posted is "The Way", a stand-out track for me from the album, exquisitely produced by dance legends Rollo & Sister Bliss of Faithless, who incidentally Example was supporting during their last tour. This is a class piece of classic Faithless and would not sound out of place on an album of theirs! Enjoy! :)

Zoë Badwi Vs. Energy 52 - Freefallin' (Café Del Mar) [T-Project's Mash-Up]

Another one of my mash-ups; this time of trance classic "Cafe Del Mar" by Energy 52 and the acapella of Aussie dance sensation Zoë Badwi's "Freefallin". Enjoy!

Tuesday, 16 August 2011

Lady GaGa - Yoü and I

Global superstar Lady GaGa returned earlier this year with the much anticipated album "Born This Way" spawning the international smash hits "Born This Way", "Judas" and "The Edge Of Glory". The fourth single to be taken from the album is the Mutt Lange produced "Yoü and I", featuring guitar from Queen legend Brian May. The track is an anthemic pop-rock tune, very different to the electro-pop tinged tracks that she has released as singles so far. The track highlights Germanotta's talent as a songwriter and shows her versatility in creating tracks that span the genres. A future classic maybe? Enjoy?

Example - Stay Awake

Elliot Gleave AKA Example first hit the UK charts back in September 2009 with the No. 19 hit "Watch The Sun Come Up". He then scored two more top 10 hits from his sophomore album "Won't Go Quietly" including the title track (No. 6, January 2010) and "Kickstarts" (No. 3, June 2010). The album's fourth single, "Last Ones Standing" hit No. 27 in September 2010 before he went back into the studio to begin work on his third album "Playing In The Shadows", to be released on the 4th September. The first track to be taken from the album "Changed The Way You Kiss Me" hit No. 1 last month and is still in the UK top 10. The second single is the Nero-produced "Stay Awake", a thumping vocal dubstep monster! Enjoy!

Friday, 22 July 2011

The Saturdays - All Fired Up

British girl-group The Saturdays first burst onto the scene back in August 2008 with the Yazoo sampling "If This Is Love" which hit No. 8 on the UK charts. Since then they have had 3 top 10 albums including the platinum selling "Chasing Lights" and 8 more top 10 singles. The second single (after "Notorious", No. 8 June 2011) to be taken from their as-yet-untitled 4th album is the club-influenced "All Fired Up". The track, the result of a collaboration with legendary song-writers and producers Xenomania (Gabriella Cilmi, Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud, Pet Shop Boys) and Lady GaGa collaborator Space Cowboy, is a euphoric thumping piece of synth-driven dance music, very different to anything the Sats have put out before! Enjoy!

Saturday, 16 July 2011

Leona Lewis - Collide/ Avicii - Fade Into Darkness

The X Factor's most successful graduate, Leona Lewis, is back with new material after a year's absence. "Collide" is a dancey, upbeat number, very different to Lewis' normal output. The track is produced by Sandy Vee and, rumour has it, Swedish DJ and producer Avicii (AKA Tim Berg) after "Collide" was accused of plagiarism by Ministry of Sound of Avicii's instrumental track "Penguin", which has now been reworked into a vocal track called "Fade Into Darkness". See for yourself how similar the tracks are! I really like both tracks so am not fussed either way to be honest; I predict big things for both tracks anyway! Enjoy! :)

Friday, 15 July 2011

Pixie Lott - All About Tonight

20 year-old British songstress Victoria "Pixie" Lott first hit the big time in June 2009 when her debut single "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)" hit No. 1 on the UK chart. This was swiftly followed up by up-tempo "Boys & Girls" which emulated the success of her debut single, hitting No. 1. 3 more top 20 hits were to come from her multi-platinum debut album "Turn It Up"; firstly "Cry Me Out" (No. 12, November 2009), "Gravity" (No. 20, March 2010) and "Turn It Up" (No. 11, June 2010). The release of a deluxe version of the album "Turn It Up Louder" would see "Broken Arrow" be released as its lead single, hitting No. 12 on the charts in October 2010. Pixie is now back with the first single to be taken from her sophomore album. "All About Tonight" is an up-tempo club-ready track that looks set to set the charts alight later this year. Enjoy!

Calvin Harris - Feel So Close + Nero Remix

Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris first hit the UK charts back in March 2007 with the top 10 hit "Acceptable In The 80s" followed by the top 3 hit "The Girls" in June that year. Both tracks were taken from his top 10 debut album "I Created Disco". After a 2 year hiatus, Calvin returned with the No. 1 album "Ready For The Weekend" and its huge No. 1 single "I'm Not Alone" in August and April 2009 respectively. He followed this up with the release of the title track as a single which hit No. 3 in August 2009.  After having two more top 40 singles from the album in October 2009 ("Flashback", No. 18) and February 2010 ("You Used To Hold Me", No. 27), Calvin took some time out to record tracks for his forthcoming 3rd album, to be released later this year. The first track to be taken from the album "Bounce", featuring Kelis, hit No. 2 on the UK charts last month and still remains in the top 10. The 2nd track to be taken from the album is "Feel So Close"; with it's infectious guitar hook, Calvin on vocals and the men-of-the-moment Nero on the remix duty it is bound to emulate it's success! Enjoy!

Olly Murs Feat. Rizzle Kicks - Heart Skips A Beat

X Factor 2009 runner-up Olly Murs hit the big time in September last year with his debut single "Please Don't  Let Me Go" which hit No. 1 on the UK charts. The second single "Thinking Of Me" was another success for him, hitting No. 4 on the UK charts after performing the track on the X Factor finals. Both tracks helped his debut self-titled album sell over 600,000 copies over the Christmas period. After a short break, Olly is ready to release the first single from his forthcoming sophomore album. "Heart Skips A Beat" featuring up-and-coming Brighton duo Rizzle Kicks is an infectious piece of ska and reggae tinged pop that is, for an X Factor graduate, a really good track! I have to say I was quite surprised when I first heard it! This is pretty good guys and I predict big things for this track! Enjoy! :)

David Guetta Feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris - Little Bad Girl

43 year old French DJ and producer David Guetta is no doubt one of the biggest success stories of the past couple of years, becoming one of the most in-demand and successful producers of the moment, scoring countless chart hits in the process with the like of the Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Rowland, Kelis and Flo Rida. His most recent effort, featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj hit No. 3 in the UK charts in May and is still hanging around the top 20 to this moment. The next track to be taken from his forthcoming album "Nothing But The Beat", "Little Bad Girl" featuring man of the moment Taio Cruz and rapper Ludacris is a much more European affair with its club synths and hands-in-the-air feel. Can this become another chart-topper for Monsieur Guetta?? I think so. Enjoy! :)

Benny Benassi Feat. Gary Go - Cinema

Italian DJ and producer Benny Benassi first hit the big time way back in July 2003 with the saucy No. 2 hit "Satisfaction". Who can forget that video with the power tools?? Since then the DJ has been in big demand as a remixer and has recently caught the eye of many high-profile acts; such as Kelis and Chris Brown, with whom he scored a UK top 5 hit in May this year with the track "Beautiful People". After releasing the first single "Spaceship" featuring Kelis, Jean-Baptiste and Apl.De.Ap and the title track featuring T-Pain from his forthcoming album "Electroman", the DJ is ready to release the 3rd single "Cinema", featuring British vocalist Gary Go (who had a UK top 30 hit in February 2009 with "Wonderful"). The track, already receiving airplay on Radio 1 is an infectious piece of synthy, bassy house very much in Benny's disctinctive style. This is a great track! Enjoy! :)

Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend + Kaskade Remix

Swedish singer/songwriter Robyn first hit the UK charts way back in 1998 as a fresh-faced 19 year-old with the pop classic "Show Me Love" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhWEI6-_w9E) which hit No. 8 in March that year. After having a 9-year hiatus, she staged an amazing come-back in 2007, hitting No. 1 in August with "With Every Heartbeat", a collaboration with Swedish producer Kleerup. Since then she has gone on to have 4 more top 40 singles including the top 10 hits "Be Mine" (No. 10, Jan 2008) and "Dancing On My Own" (No. 8, June 2010) and the top 20 single "Handle Me" (No. 17, Nov 2007). "Call Your Girlfriend" is the 2nd single to be taken from her album "Body Talk", her third album to be released over the past year (including Body Talk Pt. 1 and Pt. 2). The track has a fantastic euphoric remix by US DJ and producer Kaskade, which has been played by Scott Mills on his Ready For The Weekend show at 6pm on Friday nights, which you guys should check out!! This is great stuff! Enjoy :)

Nero - Promises

Dubstep/Drum & Bass duo Nero follow up their No. 8 hit "Guilt" with "Promises", a track that looks to the emulate it's success into the UK top 10. Dubstep as a genre seems to have peaked in its popularity over the past few months, with DJ Fresh's No. 1 hit single "Louder" testament to this - the first dubstep track to top the charts. "Promises" is the 4th single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album "Welcome Reality" which will be released on August 15th. Enjoy!

Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger

Precocious X-factor 2010 star Cher Lloyd first caught our attention with her rendition of the Keri Hilson Dime Divaz Remix of Soulja Boy Tell 'Em's track "Turn My Swag On". Since then the 17 year old has divided the opinion of viewers and music lovers alike....her 'swag' and her 'attitude' causing her to become musical marmite!! After coming 3rd in the final, Cher became the object of a bidding war between record labels with Will.I.Am expressing interest - however she eventually got snapped up by Simon Cowell's label and now she is ready to release her debut single "Swagger Jagger", an infectious piece of a multitude of genres with a bit of hip-hop, dance and house thrown in the mix. There are some great remixes for the track on the promotional cd, with commercial favourites Wideboys providing a more progressive house offering and dubstep favourites Eyes, HyGrade and Dillon Francis all providing a variety of interesting mixes spanning the genre. The track samples nursery rhyme "Oh My Darlin' Clementine" and towards the end sounds a little bit like Swedish House Mafia's "One". Get your head round this one guys....it's interesting...yet I'm sure it will be a big hit for the youngster, and who knows maybe will crack the tough US market too??

Laidback Luke & Steve Aoki Feat. Lil Jon - Turbulence

Dutch DJ Laidback Luke first hit the UK charts in 2009 in a collaboration with Swedish DJ Steve Angello with the No. 11 hit "Show Me Love", a cover of the 1993 hit by Robin S. 2011 brings a new collaboration in the form of "Turbulence", a thumping house track ready to set the clubs alight with Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki (I'm In The House) and US rapper Lil Jon (famous for his top 10 hit "Get Low" and his featuring on the No. 1 Usher track "Yeah"). Perhaps if you are venturing to Ibiza this Summer, you might be hearing this in the likes of Pacha! Enjoy!

Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)

Katy Perry has had huge success with the singles from her album "Teenage Dream"; "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework" and "E.T. (Futuristic Lover)" have all reached No. 1 stateside and attained top 5 positions in the UK. Now she is ready to release the 5th single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", a Dr. Luke produced number with a fantastic video with cameos courtesy of Glee's Darren Criss (Blaine) and Kevin McHale (Artie) and none other than youtube sensation Rebecca Black! This is a future hit guys! Enjoy!

The Wanted - Glad You Came

Boyband The Wanted hit the UK charts first in August last year with their debut single "All Time Low" which hit No. 1, followed by a No. 2 hit in October with "Heart Vacancy". Both tracks were taken from their self-titled debut album which hit No. 4 in October. The band were revealed to have recorded the Comic Relief track for this year "Gold Forever" which hit No. 3 back in March. The second track to be taken from their 2nd studio album is "Glad You Came" (funny title I know), a catchy summer dance tune which has a hook that is reminiscent of much of the dance music that is coming out of Romania nowadays (think "Stereo Love"). Enjoy!

LMFAO Feat. Natalia Kills - Champagne Showers

LMFAO first hit the big time in the UK charts in December 2009 with "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl", a collaboration with Dutch DJ Chuckie and then hit No. 1 in June last year as a featured artist on David Guetta's "Gettin' Over You". Since then they have had one of the biggest No. 1 hits of the year so far with the infectious floorfiller "Party Rock Anthem". The second track to be taken from their forthcoming 2nd album "Sorry For Party Rocking" is "Champagne Showers", a collaboration with up-and-coming label mate Natalia Kills. The track is very much in the same vein as "Party Rock Anthem" and has an awesome video to go with it too! Enjoy!

Nicola Roberts - Beat Of My Dream

Yes that's right folks....another Girls Aloud member has gone solo, and this time it's Nicola Roberts (the ginger one)! "Beat Of My Drum" is the first single to be taken from her debut album "Cinderella's Eyes" which is being released later on this year. The track is produced by Major Lazer (A.K.A Switch & Diplo) who are mostly known for their track "Pon De Floor", most recently sampled by Beyonce in her track "Run The World (Girls)" and is an infectious piece of shouty, synthy pop very much in the same vein as the Ting Tings' "That's Not My Name". This is certainly different from the R&B dance-pop that has been the route of band-mate Cheryl. Enjoy!

Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

Multi award-winning British band Coldplay have undoubtedly been one of the UK's most successful exports over the past decade or so, selling millions of albums and singles in the process. The band struck gold in 2008 though when it released "Viva La Vida", which would become the band's most successful single to date. It became the band's first No. 1 both here and stateside, where it was used in an itunes advert. Scoring 10 top 10 singles and 4 No. 1 multi-platinum albums in the UK alone, Coldplay are now back with the first single to be taken from their as yet untitled 5th studio album. The track, "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" is a typically summery piece of guitar driven pop with soaring vocals, which will undoubtedly be a huge hit around the world in  the coming weeks. Enjoy!

DJ Fresh - Louder

Veteran Drum & Bass producer DJ Fresh remarkably hit the charts for the first time last year after more than a decade on the scene with the infectious vocal version of his instrumental "Gold Dust" released through Ministry of Sound. His next single, which I am tipping to be a huge contender for at least a top 10 spot in the UK charts over the next few months is the theme tune to a new Lucozade advert "Louder". The track features the vocals of Kosheen lead singer Sian Evans (check the band out if you haven't heard of theme before; they had UK top 20 hits with "Hide U", "Catch", "Hungry" and "All In My Head") and is a certified dance floor filler with its dubstep beat and its transition into a full throttle drum and bass anthem towards the end. I recommend the remix package as well, with mixes from industry favourites Hervé, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Flux Pavilion & Doctor P. Enjoy!

Avril Lavigne - Smile

Avril Lavigne first burst onto the scene in October 2002 with the No. 3 classic "Complicated". Since then she has had 4 top 10 albums and 6 top 10 singles. Most recently, she had a top 20 hit with the first single to be taken from her fourth album "Goodbye Lullaby", "What The Hell". The second single to be released from the album is "Smile", produced by long term collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, is a similar affair with its infectious chorus and feel-good lyrics. This is great!! Enjoy!

The Saturdays - Notorious

The Saturdays are back with new single "Notorious" after achieving success last year with the No. 3 hit "Missing You" and hooking up with Flo Rida on the No. 10 hit "Higher". The track is produced by long-term collaborator Steve Mac and is an infectious thumping electro tinged pop track with a euphoric break down in the chorus. It is certainly quite different to their previous offerings, and by the looks of it, their as yet untitled forthcoming fourth album with its production credits ranging from Labrinth to Space Cowboy will be more-or-less following this change in direction. Enjoy!

Jason DeRulo - Don't Wanna Go Home

Jason DeRulo has had a string of top 20 hits over the past 2 years with the Imogen Heap sampling "Whatcha Say" (No. 3, November 2009), the No. 1 hit "In My Head", "Ridin' Solo" (No. 2, May 2010) and "What If" (No. 12, July 2010), all taken from his self-titled debut album. Now he is back with this infectious, yet quite bizarre dance-pop track "Don't Wanna Go Home", the first single from his 2nd album "Future History" - you will see what I mean when you hear the track! DeRulo samples the crowd pleasing 90s dance classic "Show Me Love" more recently a hit in its Steve Angello & Laidback Luke form, and also has a very familiar chorus!! Enjoy!

Lady GaGa - The Edge Of Glory

After becoming perhaps the 21st century's biggest star over the past two years, there seems to be no stopping the pop sensation that is Lady GaGa. Scoring No. 1 hits worldwide with "Just Dance", "Poker Face", "Paparazzi", "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" from the multi-platinum album "The Fame" and its "Fame Monster" spinoff, GaGa returned this year with the huge "Born This Way" from her second album of the same name. After releasing the promo clip for new track "Judas", another controversial video to add her collection, GaGa has started to release promo tracks taken from her new album, out later this month. iTunes have started to release 1 track each week in anticipation of the album's release. The first track to be released is "The Edge Of Glory", a very epic 80's style dance track with a soaring vocal and epic saxophone solo! I have to say I'm enjoying this better than "Born This Way" and "Judas" so far....what do you guys thing? Enjoy!

Cascada - San Francisco

Cascada very much have had a stronghold on the dance pop genre in the UK charts over the past few years with their huge hands in the air hits "Everytime We Touch" (No. 2 in August 2006), the Savage Garden cover "Truly Madly Deeply" (No. 4 December 2006), "Miracle" (No. 8 March 2007), "What Hurts The Most" (No. 10 December 2007) and of course their No. 1 hit "Evacuate The Dancefloor" (July 2009). Now they are back with the very California-Girls-esque electro stomper "San Francisco", with its bendy synths that are reminiscent of Bodyrox's 2006 No. 2 hit "Yeah Yeah" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Xq4q1wCk4) and Summer-tinged video. I predict big things for this track over the next few months; although I suspect it will make its way onto club dancefloors more so in its remixed form courtesy of the Wideboys, Cahill and Frisco! Enjoy!

David Guetta, Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj - Where Them Girls At

David Guetta has had phenomenal success over the past few years, scoring chart topping singles across the globe with "When Love Takes Over" featuring Kelly Rowland, "Sexy Bitch" featuring Akon, "Gettin' Over You" featuring Chris Willis, Fergie & LMFAO and more recently "Who's That Chick" featuring Rihanna. He also scored a No. 1 hit as a featured artist with Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" and is currently in top 10 charts around the world with his remix of "Sweat" by Snoop Dogg. Now he is back with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj on his new track "Where Them Girls At" taken from his forthcoming as yet untitled album - expect lots of collaborations!! As for this track - its a pulsating hands in the air anthem very much in the vein of "Sexy Bitch". Needless to say I have already downloaded it from itunes - and if you're a fan of Guetta and his dancefloor friendly tunes I recommend the same! Enjoy!

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

Example has had a string of top 40 hits over the past 2 years with the anthemic "Watch The Sun Come Up" which hit No. 19 in October 2009, and last year "Won't Go Quietly" which hit No. 6 in January, "Kickstarts" which hit No. 3 in June and "Last Ones Standing" which hit No. 27 in September all taken from his top 5 debut album "Won't Go Quietly". Now he is back with the first single to be taken from his 2nd album "Playing In The Shadows" called "Changed The Way You Kiss Me". The hands in the air euphoric dance track has been produced by Michael Woods and is a certified chart hit in the months to come! Enjoy!

Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song

The dulcet tones of one Bruno Mars have graced the UK charts several times over the past year with features on hits such as B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" which hit No. 1 in May last year and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire". Bruno then became a star in his own right with the massive No. 1 singles "Just The Way You Are" and "Grenade" taken from the album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans". The third track to be taken from this album is the very Jack Johnson/Jason Mraz-esque "The Lazy Song", accompanied with its unique, amusing and low-budget video and "I-don't-feel-like-doing-anything-today" attitude, no doubt this will become the anthem for procrastinating students this Summer!! Enjoy!

Tuesday, 19 April 2011

Alexis Jordan - Hush Hush

Alexis Jordan first hit the charts in November last year at No. 3 with the Deadmau5 sampling "Happiness". She followed that up earlier this year with the No. 6 hit "Good Girl". Now she is ready to release the 3rd single from her self-titled debut album "Hush Hush". The track is a moody synth-driven club stomper with a hands-in-the-air chorus that no doubt will be stuck in heads for weeks to come! This is awesome! Enjoy!

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Inna - Sun Is Up (Cahill Radio Mix)

Here is a remix by Cahill of the new Inna track "Sun Is Up". Inna had a top 10 hit last year with "Hot" followed up by the top 15 spanish guitar driven "Amazing". This is definitely one of those remixes that rarely comes along and is better than the original! I love it! Enjoy!

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Nero - Guilt

Dubstep and Drum & Bass duo Dan Stephens and Joseph Ray aka Nero first hit the UK charts in January at No. 15 with "Me and You". The track was the pair's first taste of mainstream success after a few years of producing numerous remixes for artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Booty Luv, N*E*R*D*, Deadmau5, Chase & Status and Calvin Harris. Their latest track "Guilt" and its rather provocative video, taken from their upcoming album, is a fresh piece of euphoric hands in the air dubstep, which will no doubt repeat the success of "Me and You". This is class - enjoy!!

LMFAO Feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem

LMFAO first appeared in the UK charts in December 2009 with the No. 9 hit "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl" a mash-up collaboration with Dutch DJ Chuckie. Now they are back and ready to conquer the charts once more with the insanely catchy and floorfiller "Party Rock Anthem" featuring Lauren Bennett (from girl group the Paradiso Girls) and GoonRock! I loved this from the first listen and I hope you will too! This is awesome!

Alex Gaudino Feat. Kelly Rowland - What A Feeling

Alex Gaudino first burst into the UK charts at No. 4 back in 2007 with the club classic "Destination Calabria" featuring Crystal Waters. In 2008 he teamed up with Shena for "Watch Out" which hit No. 16. More recently, in October last year, he had a top 10 hit with the infectious "I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It)". Now he is back and has teamed up with Kelly Rowland (a la David Guetta styley) for the anthemic "What A Feeling", another hands in the air club crowd-pleaser! Enjoy!

DJ Sava Feat. Raluka - I Like The Trumpet

Here's yet another amazing track from those Romanians!! This is DJ Sava featuring Raluka with "I Like The Trumpet" another pulsating Euro track perfect for the clubs! The catchy trumpet hook will literally be playing over and over in your head! Expect this and Hey (Nah Neh Nah) to be holiday favourites over the summer! Enjoy!

David Guetta Vs. Snoop Dogg - Sweat

David Guetta yet again has collaborated his popular radio friendly dance music with the finest in urban music - this time it's none other than Snoop Dogg! The result of this is "Sweat", another insanely catchy piece of euphoric dance music! The track features Snoop's heavily auto-tuned vocals and has been named Scott Mill's Record of The Week on Radio 1! It samples Felix's ravetastic 1992 UK top 10 hit "Don't You Want Me" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UqLJaw9kFU). This is an awesome tune and I predict big things for this on the UK charts!

Chris Brown Feat. Benny Benassi - Beautiful People

After the whole Rihanna scandal, many doubted that Chris Brown would return to the success that he had beforehand! However, earlier this year he returned with the remarkably familiar sounding Yeah 3X (Calvin Harris' I'm Not Alone anyone??) which burst into the UK top 10. The star is releasing his new album F.A.M.E. later this month and by the looks of it this is the next track to be pulled from it. "Beautiful People" featuring Italian DJ Benny Benassi (does anyone remember "Satisfaction"?) is an uplifting slice of electro-tinged house. I have to say that this is probably my favourite track that he has ever done! Enjoy peeps!

Blue - I Can (United Kingdom Eurovision Entry 2011) + Graham Norton Show Premiere Performance

In their heyday Blue had 3 UK No. 1s and 10 top 20 hits, with success across Europe. In January it was revealed that after splitting up in 2004, the boys would be getting back together and representing the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Dusseldorf, Germany. Yesterday, a 20 second teaser of the track was released on the BBC Eurovision website ahead of the first performance of the track on The Graham Norton Show tonight on BBC 1 (of which a youtube clip is now posted!!). However, the track leaked in full onto youtube soon after - and without any ado here it is! The track is modern electro pop stomper with an addictive chorus....I personally love it! Perhaps it could be London 2012 in more ways than one next year??

Alexandra Stan - Mr. Saxobeat

It seems that the Romanians keep on churning out dancefloor hit after dancefloor hit after their huge success last year in the form of Inna (Hot No. 6 and Amazing No. 14 UK Chart) and Edward Maya (Stereo Love No. 4 UK Chart)! Another awesome catchy track hot off the press is Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat". The track is very much in the same vein as Inna's, but with an addictive saxophone driven hook! Dancefloor classic methinks!

Natalia Kills - Mirrors

Natalia Kills is another hot artist set for success in 2011! She is no stranger to chart success however, having hit the No. 11 spot on the UK chart back in 2004 as Verbalicious with the infectious "Don't Play Nice" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFMhMKw7KRs). As you can tell she has grown up rather a lot since then and has signed to Cherrytree Records/Konvict, the home of Lady GaGa. The video and the song is rather Lady GaGa-esque in itself, with its electro-tinged synths reminiscent of "Just Dance" and the trademark "Konvict" holler at the beginning! Me likey! Enjoy!

Jodie Connor Feat. Tinchy Stryder - Bring It

After featuring on Roll Deep's UK No. 1 hit "Good Times" last year, Jodie Connor had her first solo top 20 hit at the end of January with "Now Or Never", featuring Wiley. Now she is back with an even bigger track "Bring It" which features the rapping talents of none other than the shortest guy on the UK grime scene Tinchy Stryder. I really like this track and there is a cracking remix of the track by in-demand producers Digital Dog on youtube as well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIBuq9k_hec). Enjoy!

Yasmin - Finish Line + Freemasons Pegasus Club Mix

Scottish DJ and singer Yasmin first came into the spotlight as guest vocalist on Devlin's top 15 hit "Runaway" last November. Since then she has gone on to have a top 40 hit with "On My Own", produced by Drum & Bass legends Shy FX. Her next single is this trip-hop infused track "Finish Line" produced by man-of-the-moment Labrinth! The Freemasons have provided an incredible remix, in the same vein as their club mix of "Work" by Kelly Rowland! Enjoy!

Cee Lo Green - Bright Lights Bigger City

After Cee Lo Green's stint as part of electronic duo Gnarls Barkley, in which he scored his first No. 1 - the colossal hit "Crazy", he made a successful return to the top last year as a solo artist with the infectious internet phenomenon "Fuck You", which he performed at the Grammy Awards with Gwyneth Paltrow! The next single to be taken from his UK top 5 album "The Lady Killer" is this synthy number; "Bright Lights Bigger City". I really like this track! Enjoy!

Breakage Feat. Jess Mills - Fighting Fire

For those into a bit of dubstep - a genre that seems to going from strength to strength at the moment, I present to you the new track from Breakage "Fighting Fire" featuring Jess Mills. The track has received critical acclaim from Radio 1, and has been named as Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record In The World". Fresh from his incredible remixes of Claire Maguire's "Ain't Nobody" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSbWfBZIjgE), Florence & The Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQlSe-iS6j0) and Sidney Samson's "Riverside" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-iKrBER7Co&feature=fvwrel), Breakage has branched out with his own amazing, pulsating track that fuses both dance and dubstep together perfectly!!

Lady GaGa Vs. Alice Deejay - Bad Romance In My Life [T-Project's Mash-Up]

Black Eyed Peas - Just Can't Get Enough

After their phenomenally successful album "The E.N.D" which spawned 3 UK No. 1 hits "Boom Boom Pow", "I Gotta Feeling" and "Meet Me Halfway", the Black Eyed Peas returned in November last year with their insanely catchy take on "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" from Dirty Dancing "The Time (Dirty Bit)". The 2nd single to come from their new album "The Beginning" is another insanely catchy offering "Just Can't Get Enough" which manages to go from a relatively slow but infectious hip-hop beat to a techno beat within the last 30 seconds! Awesome!

Lady GaGa Vs. Daft Punk - Love Voyager [T-Project's Mash-Up]

Hey guys! This is the first time I have uploaded something which I have made myself so here goes; this is a mash-up (albeit not a very good one for the first 7 seconds or so) that I made about a year ago of Lady GaGa's "Lovegame" and Daft Punk's "Voyager" (an instrumental track from their album Discovery - check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqZgd6-xQl8). I hope you guys enjoy it! (I will probably make a more polished version sometime in the near future!!)

Katy Perry - E.T. (Futuristic Lover) + Manhattan Clique Remix

Katy Perry has scored 3 US Hot 100 No. 1 singles from her multi-platinum Teenage Dream album and this is the 4th single to be released from it "E.T. (Futuristic Lover)", after the hugely successful "Firework", which was a top 3 UK top 40 smash last year. There is a remix of the track featuring Tinie Tempah, although the proper version has yet to find it's way onto youtube! However there is another fantastic remix (encompassing dubstep and house!!) of the track which has been receiving plays on Scott Mill's Friday Floorfillers (6-7pm) by in-demand remixers Manhattan Clique (Example, Britney Spears, Chris Brown).
