ADELE - Skyfall (Official James Bond theme)
The musical accompaniment to the opening credits of the films based Ian Fleming's womanising British spy James Bond has almost become as famous as the film series itself, with the crème de la crème of international talent lending their vocals over the years. Such artists as Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones, Madonna, Tina Turner and Sheryl Crow have all scored international hits with their offerings the hugely successful espionage franchise. 2012 sees the release of "Skyfall", the third film to feature Daniel Craig as 007 since 2006's "Casino Royale". Along with it, after selling 24 million copies of her phenomenally successful sophomore album "21", Adele, perhaps the most successful female vocalist of the moment, has had the honour of recording the title track. Co-written by herself and "Rolling In The Deep" collaborator Paul Epworth, "Skyfall" is an instantly recognisable Bond theme and interpolates the original John Barry composition cleverly into an epic string and brass ensemble driven number topped off with Adele's trademark soulful and smokey vocals. The track, which has already been met with critical acclaim, shot to No. 1 on iTunes charts around the world, including the UK and US, only hours after its release on 5th October at 12.07am and looks to chart highly on this week's Official UK Top 40 despite only being available for two full days of sales. A brilliant Bond theme and perhaps over the coming weeks will become the first track from the series to hit No. 1. Enjoy!
